Liveability & Sustainability Innovations Grant Call

Who qualifies

• The call is for parties that have completed proofs of concept and need support to create and demonstrate prototypes in an operational environment.
• Proposals must be for later-stage applied or translational research and development, or commercialisation; early research is not funded.
• Solutions should preferably be at Technology Readiness Level 6 and beyond and/or Proof-of-Value stage.
• Solutions may originate inside or outside Singapore, but must benefit Singapore and be applicable or adaptable in Singapore.
• The Lead Principal Investigator should ideally be based in Singapore.
• Project duration is capped at three years.
• Requested funding must exclude in-kind contributions, existing equipment, existing manpower and building costs; bonuses and founders' salaries are not supported.
• Professional services are limited to consultancy, subcontracting or prototyping by third-party local companies; software must be technical and project-related, and general-purpose IT or communications equipment is supported only when necessary for the project.
• All applicants must comply with the ethics and regulatory approval requirements relevant to the project, and expenditure must be budgeted inclusive of applicable GST.

What it funds

• R&D, product development, prototyping, IP
• Energy efficiency, decarbonisation, green certification, waste reduction

Costs covered: Internal staff salary attributable to the project; Third-party consultant or professional service fees; Hardware, machinery, IT equipment; Software licences and SaaS; Course fees and trainer costs; IP registration and licensing costs; Overseas travel and logistics; Space, incubation or facility rental; Physical materials and consumables consumed by the funded project (e.g. construction materials, prototypes); Explain in notes.

Payment: Paid in tranches against milestones.

1. Complete the online Intent to Apply Form.
2. Provide the applicant and lead investigator profiles, project details, proposed solution and impact, commercialisation information, other funding declarations, detailed write-up, budget, payment milestones and outcome indicators.

Claiming support

Funding support is provided in phases upon completion of stipulated project milestones.
