Hong Kong–Singapore Joint Call for Proposals

Who qualifies

• Organisation types: Natural person (worker, trainee, founder).
• Must be registered in Singapore.
• The Singapore Principal Investigator must have a primary appointment of at least 75% in a local publicly funded research institution.
• The proposal must be jointly developed by Singapore-based and Hong Kong-based research teams and submitted to both A*STAR and RGC.

What it funds

• R&D, product development, prototyping, IP

Costs covered: Internal staff salary attributable to the project; Hardware, machinery, IT equipment; Third-party consultant or professional service fees.

Recorded cap: S$300,000.

Phase 1 supports up to S$150,000 per project for 24 months; up to three selected projects may receive Phase 2 support of up to S$300,000 for 36 months. Funding support for Singapore-based applicants is inclusive of indirect costs capped at 30%; up to 10 projects may be supported in Phase 1.

Payment: Paid after the company incurs the cost and files a claim.

How to apply

Submit the identical joint proposal concurrently through A*STAR iGrants and to Hong Kong RGC; the Singapore host institution must endorse the application before submission.

1. Prepare the joint proposal in English with the Singapore and Hong Kong research teams.
2. Complete the Application Form and Budget, Milestones and KPIs Template for Singapore-based applicants.
3. Obtain host-institution endorsement.
4. Submit through the A*STAR iGrants platform by 20 October 2026 and submit the identical proposal to RGC.
